Lazy Suz Guide to Your First Batch of Cider

This course kicks off with a quick and simple recipe, the Lazy Suz, that will get you to your first batch of cider in about a month with minimal equipment and ingredients. Then, we will take a closer look at each step of the process and how you can make riskier batches that are more volume, more interesting, more boozy, more time consuming, more complicated, and (maybe) more expensive.  By the end of the workshop, you will have witnessed every step of the process from juice sourcing to bottling and serving at least twice. Participation in the forms of hands-on experience and laughing at bad jokes encouraged but not required.

You'll also build your palette by learning through experience about different cider styles and apple varieties.

Topics: safety and sanitation, sources of juice, primary fermentation, secondary fermentation, aging, clarifying, carbonating, bottling, serving, tasting, and troubleshooting.

About the Instructor: Suz made her first batch of cider (we think) in 2019, but it's all a bit fuzzy before March of 2020. She's been able to keep making cider, pass her American Cider Association's Certified Cider Professional exam, work in tasting rooms, and help out with cider production at local companies.  She enjoys puns and is studying for her final Pommelier exam (yes that's a thing)!
