Fermentation Nutrient - YAN source supplying organic nitrogen (amino acids); OMRI listed
FERMAID O™ is an organic nitrogen source that contributes YAN and is an all-purpose fermentation nutrient.
- Lowers peak fermentation temperatures, improves fermentation kinetics, and reduces sulfur off-odors (e.g., H2S)
- Can use lower addition rates of FERMAID O than conventional nitrogen sources like diammonium phosphate (DAP)
- Enhances aroma (ester production and thiol conversion) and mouthfeel
- Highly specific inactivated yeast rich in assimilable amino acids (organic nitrogen), small peptides, essential vitamins, and minerals
Frequently used in: Reds, whites, rosés, ciders, and meads with medium or high YAN.
When to add: 2-3 °Brix drop and/or 1/3 sugar depletion
Provides: YAN in the form of organic nitrogen
Recommend Dosage: Use at a rate of 1.5g / gal of wort. Dissolve in a small amount of wort or water and add to your fermenter at pitching.
Usage: Suspend FERMAID O in water or juice/must and mix well before adding, especially during fermentation to avoid CO2 release and overflowing of vessel.
Storage: Store at in a cool and dry environment at 18°C (65°F). Once opened, keep tightly sealed and dry.
